Lest we forget
Today is ANZAC day and while I think very highly of our soldiers who gave their lives for our countries, I am also relieved that it is a public holiday. For the past 2 months I've had to sit a Customer Service online course for work - we have to complete one a year. They give you 2 months to do this course online but as I've moved in that time, I've had no internet connection at home and have to come to work for this. ANZAC day for me was the perfect day to come in. Luckily while I was walking from the station to work I got to see some of the parade so that was simply marvellous. Another bonus is that I've finished the course and now won't have to come in on Sunday to do any more study which means I can concentrate this weekend on 2 things - the kitchen and the rest of the house. On Saturday my washing machine and fridge gets delivered. I've asked for an afternoon delivery, that way I can pop up to the shops and get some stuff. I'm down to 52kg and my trousers are all falling off me. Sure, I use belts, but I'm tired of the gathering around my waste and it makes my bottom look saggy as there simply is no butt to fill those pants! So the interesting things I need to get at the shops will be things like clothes, a steamer (i really want one - but not one of those machine ones, just the darn pot) and other things that have just happened to slip my mind at this stage. Tomorrow before the white goods arrive, I would like the kitchen and laundry to be spotless. Then on Sunday I would like to go around and scrub every possible surface I can. I might also go to another suburb to check out their shops. On the first of May I start the gym. My work will pay for my gym membership (reimburse me), but I decided not to start until 1 May. I even got it at a discounted rate so that was just brilliant. Which means I have extra money left over in the Health fund that work can reimburse me for as well (we get a monthly allowance). I might look at dancing classes seeing there is a dance studio down the block. I seem to be settling in to my new place just fine. The commute is just a quarter of what I used to do, so that is very exciting when I make it home before 6pm. This week has been quite a hard one. Short weeks normally are. Trying to get lots of work done in just four days. Luckily, I've been using my lunchtimes to get my errands done. I absolutely love being able to go to the Queen Victoria market in my lunch hour and get cut price goods. This week I managed to purchase some things for the house including rather inexpensive storage solutions which I was overly stoked about only a quarter of the cost. I might go next week to get some fruit and veges but while I was there I found this amazing Asian grocery store. Very good prices and it had all Singapore, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese. It was the best one I've seen so I will have to go there as well to get a bamboo steamer. They had these lovely tea cups which I wouldn't mind getting, only $1 each. I could get my Jasmine tea from there as well but I'm finding it hard to decide on a type of plum sauce. I've got recipes that I need to make coming out of my ears but when I do get around to making them (probably not for another month) I will post a picture of my bakings. I'm also trying to get my brother to come over here and live in my place seeing it's a 2 bedder, but he still has his injury and his foot will take another few months to come right before he can walk on it again. Shortly, I'll stroll down to the supermarket, see if DFO's open then I'll go home. The shops don't open for another 12 minutes but at least I'll be able to go home and GET READY FOR THE FOO FIGHTERS CONCERT tonight. Jeebers, I'm so excited it's unbelievable.
